Want to pitch Public Service?
Through this project, I aim to cultivate a mix of criticism, ideas, art, sound, and anything else that comes my way. Some will come from me, but (I hope) many will come from creative people around the world.
Part of the vision for this newsletter is collaboration. That means highlighting people who are making art in all forms. Whether that be words, sounds, drawings, collages, videos, or anything else, the newsletter is stronger and more interesting when it’s about more than just me sharing my thoughts.
I’ll be upfront and say that this project was started and is run on a budget of exactly €0, which means I can’t afford to pay contributors in the near future.
This also means that the requirements for contributions are simple:
It should be small: The newsletter is focused on dispatches of “public service.” I’m looking for content that is easily digestible and easily shared. I can’t pay for a 500-word review of Marxism in Shrek (yet), but if you want to share some of your thoughts on a big idea, feel free.
It can be new or old: You can send over something you’ve just finished or dust off an old project you want to get fresh eyes on.
It can be an idea: If you want to contribute but aren’t sure what to do, send an idea, and I’ll do my best to help you shape it.
It can be a takeover: One pipe dream for the newsletter is a complete takeover from a far-away place. If you’re tapped into the local art scene in your city, town, village, or wherever and want to contribute, let’s talk.
It can be whatever else: Have another idea? I’d love to hear it.
Still unsure what to send? Here are some content ideas:
Cultural criticism, essay, review, poetry, fiction, etc.
Tracks, mixes, playlists, field recordings, etc.
Doodles, collages, art from a series, etc.
Please keep in mind that the newsletter is produced solely by one person. They would like to note that they can occasionally have bad time management skills and slow email response times. Be patient!
